Ponte Vedra Beach is one of my favorite places in Northeast Florida for maternity and family photoshoots. Take it from me, this beach is quiet, beautiful and vast: perfect for photos that capture the growth, anticipation and closeness of a family expecting a sweet addition.

Why Choose Ponte Vedra Beach (or Guana Reserve) for Your Jacksonville Maternity Photoshoot

In Jacksonville, there are a lot of beach spots, but they are not all the same. Jacksonville beach can feel very crowded compared to some of the more secluded areas that I prefer to use for maternity and family sessions. Ponte Vedra beach is located in an upscale area and is peaceful and scenic, very well maintained and even groomed in some areas. I will share with you some of my favorite locations for photos that will wow you.

Proximity to Nearby Restaurants, Cafes and Boutiques: Whether it’s breakfast after a sunrise shoot or dinner following sunset, there are incredible local spots to enjoy together nearby.
Options for Privacy: If you prefer something more secluded, the Guana Tolomato Matanzas National Estuarine Research Reserve (we call it Guana Reserve) offers tucked-away stretches of sand with fewer people just around the corner from Ponte Vedra.

And just so you know, the stretch of coastline between Ponte Vedra Beach and Guana Reserve runs for miles, giving us endless room to explore without feeling crowded.

My favorite coffee stop is: Foxtail Coffee Co. (in Sawgrass Village) for a vanilla caramel cold brew or their delicious iced matcha tea latte. The best part is that they even have a homemade ice‑cream counter making it a sweet treat stop as well. Foxtail also serves simple breakfast sandwiches, avocado toast, bagels and pastries.

Lunch/Early Dinner Spot For After Your Session:

My recommendation for a child friendly lunch/early dinner cafe in Ponte Vedra is: Palm Valley Fish Camp. They serve seafood and comfort food with a relaxed atmosphere that’s great for little ones. Kids’ menu has the usual favorites, such as chicken tenders. The restaurant is right on the intracoastal with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating that is scenic. The vibes will make you feel like you are having a coastal vacation.

Avoid dressing in your photo outfits until just before the session (especially for kids, seeing as how snacks and playtime happen!).
After your photoshoot, surprise the kids with dessert or ice cream to end the night on a sweet note.

For ice cream, head to The Sweet Spot, it’s delicious and cheerful. They serve slushies, ice cream, and even treats for pups. Your kiddos will have something to look forward to after a photoshoot.

Colors That Work: Soft neutrals, creams, muted blues, sage greens, dusty pinks — all look stunning against sand and sea.
Textures & Movement: Flowy dresses, linen shirts, light knits. Fabrics that catch the breeze add movement and romance to your images.
