Some stories begin with a beach sunset, and this one did too.

Months ago, I met this beautiful family during their maternity session at Neptune Beach, just outside Jacksonville. It was one of those evenings I still think about: golden light, calm air, and a couple so connected, I felt like I was simply witnessing something sacred unfold. So when they reached out again, this time with a joyful update that their baby girl had arrived: I was beyond excited to see them again and document the next chapter.

From the Beach to Their Home: A Natural, Connected Baby Session

I always feel honored when clients invite me into their home during such an intimate, new season of life.

We have met before with this baby girl’s parents before during their amazing Maternity Beach Session near Jacksonville, at Neptune Beach. It was pretty much a mindblowing evening and sunset! I wasn’t going to disappoint with Newborn Photos of course!! Oh so many yawns, snuggles and kisses! Just as Family Newborn Session should be!!

This baby girl was just 7 days old! Perfect time for those first baby photos when back at home and after a couple days of adjustment. Her parents once again have pulled my heartstrings and made me all emotional. Their connection and sensitivity is a pleasure to witness and a gem to capture. There are so many images from this session that I adore to the extreme, but I think the ones featured below are topping them all.

She was a dream to photograph, all soft sighs, sleepy stretches, and tiny curled fists.

There were moments where she nuzzled into her parents’ chests so perfectly that I barely had to say a word. Their connection was so intuitive, so loving, and so real. These are the moments I aim to freeze in time.

Q&A: What Parents Often Ask Before Booking Their Newborn Session

Q: Is 7 days too early for photos?
Not at all! In fact, the first 7–14 days is a beautiful time for newborn portraits. Babies are still sleepy, and there’s a calmness to those early days that’s hard to replicate later.

Q: Will our home work for photos?
Yes. Whether your home is large or small, styled or simple, I use soft light and close composition to create beautiful images in almost any setting. I’ll guide you to the best rooms or angles — you don’t have to prep everything perfectly.

Q: What if my baby is fussy or we need to stop and feed?
That’s expected and totally okay. I always leave extra time for newborn sessions so we can move at baby’s pace. These photos are never rushed — and often, the quiet in-between moments become the favorites.
