Photography mentoring at Click Away. Maternity Photographer teaching class and Clickin Moms conference
In the last 12 years of my life I made only two trips alone… yes… I totally said that.
Well, I was a stay at home mom with a part time job which honestly kept me busy enough…
BUT! When the Click Away 2014 announcemnt came, I was all in!
A bunch of wonderful friends who shared a passion for photography with me. Wonderful location, awesome way to learn and shoot. Why not, right??
Well, as soon as last year’s Click Away came to an end, questions came to rise about when the 2015 Click Away would happen. Everybody waited for the big news…
I never imagined how Click Away 2015 would be for me this time around. Never!
It all started a couple of years ago when I joined Clickin Moms. I wanted to get more technical information about photography, find my little place to share my work, ask questions…
I am so glad I decided to stick around after the trial time…
Since then I had so many wonderful opportunities, first becoming CMPRO, winning recognition in Clickin Walk, being published and showcased many times, and being able to connect with so many truly amazingly talented people… List is long!
Well this year (I cannot believe I am actually going to type this), I was teaching a class…
actually two classes. One was “Indoor Boutique Class Depth in the Shadows/Expressive Low Light Portraiture” and the other “Golden Hour Class/Soulful Vision of Children Portaiture.”
I remember exactly when I read that INSTRUCTOR email… I felt like it started another stage for my photography journey for sure! Full of happiness and excitement I put all of myself into it.
On top of that wonderful news, I was even sponsored by Shootproof! An awesome company which I have supported for many years. Make sure to check them out! This amazing eclectic group of talented and caring people, had just a right idea on how to create an online proofing website. Focused on clients proofing and prints/downloads purchasing, with 5 great plans to choose from, with no sales commissions and set up fees and their own Lightroom plugin. I have been with this company since my first day in the business and it only gets better!
If I told you I was not nervous, I would be lying to you tremendously. As a child I was known for stuttering a lot, especially while speaking in front of people. I was sure excited to share every piece of photography knowledge I had and shoot with my attendees, but I was secretly crossing my fingers for myself… and then magic happened…
I swear… people were showing up, people were talking about my class in the elevator, and then sharing their experience with me, people were hugging me, we shared tears together, we searched for a chair to sit on, we shared our vision, and then we did what we all love… took pictures.
In my Boutique classes I had 2 gorgeous expecting ladies to photograph. They were really beautiful, BUT in the delicate stunning gown we received from Leah Maria Couture they truly looked angelic.
I could swear I heard gasping sounds when window light spread over the sheer fabric and showcased their bellies. I am pretty sure that tens of us ran after the class to purchase that gown from Leah Maria Couture .
My Golden Hour started very emotionally when one of the Click Away attendees came out to me with her sweet words, and we both shared a touching moment… this class didn’t even start, but my heart was already full. We had the cutest litlle girl to photograph. I mean really!
In the little walk to our location, we became the best buddies. I learned stories about her family, their favorite food, grandparents, their last family trip, and how much she grew last year. Haha… and she gives the best hugs! I wish we had even more time photographing this precious little lady.
Click Away conference was not over for me yet. I continued with more wonderful classes and met people I waited to meet for a long time. It was such a treat to watch others teach, to improve myself, and to be social with other photographers and listen to so many wonderful speakers. Many of them I have the privilege to call my friends. Goodness, things really changed!
Did I already tell you that Sue Bryce was a hand’s reach away from me while she was speaking?
I remeber very well when I saw her on Creative Life for the first time.
I am so beyond blessed to meet all of the ladies who decided to put my class in their schedule. Each and every person I met was so kind and sweet to me. I felt like I knew many of them forever. All I can say is thank you to Clickin Moms for a wonderful time, and I am so looking forward to another conference with you!
